Rice Hulls are the discarded shell by product of rice production. The are a great soil amendment for many applications. The hulls decompose rather slowly, thus lasting a long time. As they are decomposing they slowly release nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus (NPK) into the soils at a slow and steady rate. Nitrogen is one of the main nutrients required for plant growth. They should be used only as an additive, and not as a top dressing, as they are very light and will be carried away by even moderate winds
